Firstly, secure your experience with the payment option which is right for you. You may select from the following; Pay-in-Full or Pay-a-Deposit. If you select Pay-a-Deposit, at least 50% of the barrel cost needs to be collected before we order your grapes. (Anticipated grape order deadline is August 31st for Fall/Californian winemaking. March 31st is the anticipated grape order deadline for Spring winemaking, therefore, these are the anticipated deposit due dates.) If you chose Pay-a-Deposit, a shareable invoice with the remaining balance & due dates will be emailed to you.

Secondly, if you know the type of wine you would like to make, to include, it may be specified in the Order Notes on the checkout page. If you are not sure what varietal, no problem! Join us for a hands-on learning experience when you join the Chilean Syrah Social Barrel. Chilean Syrah is a big, bold luscious wine. Expect a lot of spice, lots of black fruit juice and compelling complexity.

Your 9-month session will begin on a Sunday, May 19th, 2019, at 5 pm.

Buy the Ultimate Wine Lovers Gift and you will receive a certificate which will entitle the holder to a full session of winemaking at Grape Expectations School of WInemaking in 2021. There are 2 seasons which the certificate holder may redeem to enroll in their winemaking experience: Spring 2021 or Fall 2021. The holder will come to the winery 4 times over 9 months to participate in the making of a barrel of red wine. They will:

  1. Learn how wine is made
  2. Participate in 4 hands-on sessions
  3. Produce 240 bottles of wine from their barrel of which 12 (1 case) will be theirs to keep

When do the sessions start?

Spring Season

In May of 2021, grapes from Chile and South Africa will arrive at Grape Expectations School of winemaking. If the certificate holder chooses the Spring Season, both a Chilean and a South African Barrel will be available to enroll in for winemaking fun. The first 2 winemaking sessions, the Crush & the Press, will happen exactly 1 week apart. The next session, Racking, will take place in November of 2021. The final session, Bottling the wine, will complete the experience in February of 2022. (Exact dates are subject to change due to unpredictable grape harvest schedules)

Fall Season

In late September to October, grapes from California wine country will arrive at the Wine School. If the certificate holder chooses the Fall Season, several California Barrels will be available to enroll in for winemaking fun. The first 2 winemaking sessions, the Crush & the Press, will happen precisely 1 week apart. The next session, Racking, will take place in February of 2022. The final session, Bottling the wine, will complete the experience in May of 2022. (Exact dates are subject to change due to unpredictable grape harvest schedules)

Guidance & Mentoring

The certificate holder will receive detailed information on how to redeem the certificate, invitations to winemaking open houses where they may meet winemaking experts, get a preview course on what to expect when winemaking, and taste wines made at the wine school to help them decide on when they would like to make wine & what kind of wines they prefer. If you buy the Ultimate Winemaking Experience before 12-24-2020, you will be eligible to also pick up a complimentary bottle of wine produced at Grape Expectations. The special edition bottle of wine has an instructional label highlighting their upcoming winemaking experience as well as the history of Southern Nevada’s First & Only Winemaking School!

Winter 2020 Bordeaux Bottling Experience (2-year-aged, 2018 vintage)

Join us on Thursday, December 3rd at 6 PM for an opportunity to participate in our Bordeaux Bottling Party.

Bordeaux is a style of wine orginating in France, usually made with a blend of MerlotCabernet SauvignonMalbecCabernet FrancPetit VerdotCarménère. Our 2018 Bordeaux Blend is priced at $250 per case experience. Aged in 500 liter Hungarian oak barrels with a touch of French Oak added, we expect this wine experience to sell out again as it has in years past.

Participation is $250 and includes 1 case share to keep. There are a limited amount of cases available of the Bordeaux this year so please purchase now to both ensure availability to participate, but also to track the number of guests wishing to participate this year. We are limited in the number of guests so strict social distancing may be enforced.

Grape Expectations will be providing food on the night of the Bordeaux party. If you are bringing a guest (spouse or plus 1), please indicate in the order notes. You are welcome to bring something to enjoy eating, but we cannot host a potluck this year due to covid precautions.

There is not a minimum or a maximum number of cases per person or per household. You MUST participate in the Bottling Experience to be eligible for case shares of the Bordeaux Wine.
