Join us for a very social & educational experience at Grape Expectations School of Wine to make a barrel of Chilean/South African Wine. Spring is the harvest season for grapes in the southern hemisphere. Your grapes make a journey from the other side of the globe for you to enjoy in a fun, social, & delicious winemaking experience. This is a 2023 Cross-Continental Blend of grape varietals sourced from both Chili and South Africa. A truly unique wine blend you will not find in any wine shop or winery elsewhere. (60% South African Cabernet, 25% Chilean Merlot, 10% Chilean Cab Franc, 5% Chilean Carmenere).

Schedule – This is a 9-month process
A Tuesday at 7 pm in May of 2023 we start with the grape crushing. (Starting date is subject to change due to the unpredictability of the harvest)
A Tuesday at 7 pm in May of 2023 will be the pressing.
A Tuesday at 7 pm in Late October/early November of 2023 will be the racking.
A Tuesday at 7 pm in February or early March of 2024 will be the bottling & labeling.

As it gets closer to your winemaking process to begin, you will be notified by email the exact date your session will be scheduled. As our scheduling is dictated by the harvest season, we thank you for your understanding. At the end of this winemaking adventure, you will ‘graduate’ the winemaking sessions with a greater knowledge of wine, new friends, and, of course, one case* of your wine. (12 bottles)!

The timeline for the 2023 Chilean/South African winemaking processes will occur as such (exact dates/times to be determined).

 

  • Processes will always occur on Tuesdays at 7 pm
  • Crushing – May 2023
  • Pressing – May 2023
  • Racking (removal of sediment) – end of October/beginning of November 2023
  • Bottling – end of February/beginning of March 2024
