PROFESSOR OF YEASTOLOGY AND DIRECTOR OF MARKETING/ ADVERTISING
KJ is a longtime Las Vegas resident who has experience in the gaming, advertising and promotion, food and beverage, special events, and golf industries throughout his 45 year tenure in Las Vegas.
He held executive positions with the Del Webb Hotels organization specializing in marketing and special events, which included the famed Mint 400 Desert Race he directed for many years, and other city-wide events such as the Caesars Palace Grand Prix, the Vegas Grand Prix, and the Las Vegas Invitational Golf tournament, in its various iterations.
He was the General Manager of the Port Tack restaurant in the last few years of its operations.
While serving in the Army in Germany, he became interested in winemaking visiting vineyards and wineries in Germany, France and Italy and learning first-hand the idiosyncrasies of the process by befriending growers and winemakers.
His association with Grape Expectations began when he made a barrel in 2007. He and Charlie Peters became friends and KJ volunteered his assistance for the following season and became a permanent staff member thereafter taking on the responsibility of teaching the fermentation process and associated winemaking procedures.
KJ attends pertinent seminars and classes at University of California-Davis school of Enology and Viticulture and the Unified Wine Symposium in Sacramento and other wine production related conventions, meetings and seminars.
