Events & Other Utterings

We plan several functions throughout the year where our winemakers are invited to attend. Among them are the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Henderson, the Bacchus Awards in August, and various wine tastings in conjunction with the American Wine Society (AWS).

In mid-March sometime around the 17th, Grape Expectations participates in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade held in Henderson on Water Street. We enter a float with a winemaking theme and a marching band. We begin the festivities in a designated area along the parade route prior to the 10:00 am parade start. The award winning, “Train Wreck Marching Band”, has been a popular element in the parade for over five years and we have won many awards for our unique float and musical renditions.

Every August, the annual Bacchus Awards (Knife, Fork and Cork Feastival), honoring our winemakers, is held at a centrally located hotel with banquet facilities that can accommodate our guests for dinner, dancing and awards’ presentations. Prior to the event, the local chapters of the American Wine Society judge our winemakers’ blends and single varietals in various categories in a post-bottling blind tasting. We then award gold, silver and bronze medals in each category at the dinner. Labels are also judged by art department representatives from various educational institutions within the Las Vegas Valley with medals awarded accordingly. Each year has a different theme with past themes such as Grape Busters (Ghostbusters) and Bacchus Bond (James Bond). The Bacchus Awards also feature fine food and voluminous quantities of Grape Expectations special cuvée poured throughout the evening. The evening is replete with libational conviviality, bottle trading, skits and stimulating dancing.
